Simon Shorthouse
Advising Partner
I am a highly experienced Independent Financial Adviser, with a wealth of knowledge gained over the last 30 years in the financial services industry. This has provided me with a detailed knowledge and expertise in the global financial markets, which I continue to maintain and build on, through ongoing studies and Continuing Professional Development.
I am particularly skilled in working with high net worth clients, trusts and charities as their trusted adviser. I offer bespoke, initial and ongoing holistic advice which covers the areas of Savings and Investments, Retirement Savings (accumulation and decumulation), Estate Planning and Protection. Intergenerational Wealth has been a significant focus of my recent work with clients and I have an extensive knowledge and detailed understanding of this invaluable area, understanding the importance of educating, engaging and supporting families ensuring maximum financial security for my clients and their beneficiaries.
This considerable amount of experience has also allowed me to develop excellent working relationships with local professionals such as Solicitors, Accountants as well as Discretionary Fund Managers across the UK. By working closely with these other trusted advisers, I provide a seamless level of high-quality support, service, and bespoke Independent Financial Advice to my clients.
I passionately believe what has enabled me to be so successful as a trusted adviser is my relatability to my clients. I have strong interpersonal skills and a high level of emotional intelligence. A client is not just a client, but an individual person, couple, family or organisation, often with a complex and unique set of circumstances. However, I am skilled and experienced in breaking these down, considering the options available, before providing the most appropriate solution to them.
Further added value I offer is that I will only ever hold a limited number of clients, thus ensuring that a high level of support is always on hand and most importantly this will always be delivered personally by me, their trusted adviser. Adopting this niche approach to financial planning means that I am able to maintain the ethics, values and beliefs which are so important to me as well as being honest and transparent, throughout our journey together.
My ethos can be summarised simply as something which was taught to me at an early age by my parents, ”Treat people and look after people the same way you would like to be treated or looked after yourself”.
