About Paul Nathan

I have been dispensing independent financial advice since 1994. Many of my clients are approaching, or already enjoying retirement. Over the last ten years I have provided specialised pension and investment advice to airline pilots and the judiciary.

I create robust strategies for my clients to help ensure they don’t outlive their main income source in retirement, which is particularly important during periods of stock market turmoil. Remember, the value of investments can go down as well as up so you might not get back the amount you put in. The tools available to me as a Sandringham Advising Partner help me build these robust strategies into my client proposition.

But just as importantly, clients pay me to help them make the right decisions at the right time. Poor or emotional decision making can destroy a financial plan and will often result in tax being paid unnecessarily. Tax rules can change and the impact of taxation and any tax relief depends on your circumstances, including where you live.

Furthermore, on the death of a pension client, I will ease the transition of funds to the nominated pension beneficiaries, and ensure they draw benefits from their inherited funds as tax-efficiently and flexibly as possible.

An essential part of the advice process is Sandringham’s Precision annual review service. One thing is for sure – nothing ever stays the same, and life has a habit of throwing the odd curveball at us from time to time. During annual reviews I check that client’s financial plans are on target to meet their objectives, which will change over time.

Just in case anyone may be interested in what I do with my time when I’m not wearing my adviser hat, I am a self-taught guitarist. My greatest enjoyment is learning new songs. Which probably explains why my wife spends as much time as she can showing our Dandie Dinmont Terrier at Championship events around the country! The little blighter recently qualified for Crufts 2023.

Please feel welcome to get in touch with me if you think I may be able to offer you the kind of help you need.

Financial advice is about so much more than money. To me it’s about helping my clients achieve the future they want for themselves and their families. Helping you realise financial security and put your hard-earned money to work is what drives me as a Sandringham Partner.

During my time as a financial adviser, I’m proud to have helped people from all walks of life. A common misconception is that advice is reserved for the wealthy, but you don’t have to have millions in the bank to benefit. I’ve helped people from diverse backgrounds and professions reach their goals. It’s a big part of why I love what I do.

Areas of expertise

Savings & investments

Whether you’re just getting started or a seasoned investor – financial advice could help you get more from your money. I start by understanding your needs and financial ambitions – this might be working towards a particular goal, or helping loved ones down the line.

It’s important we consider things like your ability to make regular payments, any one-off investments you could make, your level of comfort regarding market volatility and risk and how long you’re looking to invest for. I can then recommend the investment products that I believe best match your aims and expectations.

Pensions & retirement planning

Have you considered what you want your retirement to look like? Most people accept that it’s generally a good idea to save into a pension. But will it give you enough to live the life you want in retirement? The earlier you lay the groundwork, the better. Effective retirement planning could mean you’re financially better off and have more time to spend on the things you love.

It’s never too late to put plans in place or discuss your options. I can look at your situation and recommend which steps to take, based on where you are in life, to help make your income last in retirement.

Protection

We can’t predict what life has in store for us, for better or worse. But we can prepare ourselves. If you become unwell and can’t work, you may not be able to pay your bills and your family could be left in financial difficulty. I can help you create a protection plan that might include income protection, life cover and critical illness cover. Knowing you’ve taken out financial protection to take care of things could mean one less worry for you and your loved ones.
