About Ian D’Arcy

I can help you to make financial decisions, follow through on financial commitments and bring order to your financial planning to achieve what is important to you.

With over 25 years of experience in financial services, I recognise the importance of building a mutually beneficial relationship. A key aspect is working alongside clients who recognise the value of investing time and effort in their financial planning to help ensure peace of mind for them and their family, as life is not a ‘dress rehearsal’. Remember, the value of your investment can go down as well as up so you might not get back the amount you put in.

I provide a personal service based on gaining a true understanding of what is important to you. The following provides an overview of the stages I will work through with you:

  • Understand your current personal situation, objectives and your desired lifestyle.
  • Obtain details of what financial resources are in place.
  • Compare your financial resources to your objectives to identify any areas that require attention.
  • Present your financial ‘health-check’ in an interactive manner and agree any amendments with you to ensure it truly reflects your unique position and objectives.
  • Discuss and agree any financial planning required to meet your desired objectives.
  • Provide specific financial planning advice, which may include changes to existing arrangements and or the implementation of financial products.
  • Meet on a regular basis (see below ‘Precision’ service’) to keep your planning on track as invariably there will be changes to both the plans that are in place and your circumstances and objectives.
  • It is important to do a ‘health-check’ on your financial position before providing any specific financial planning advice, as it enables a solid foundation on which to base any initial and ongoing advice.

Sandringham’s Precision ongoing client service allows me to spend more time planning for your specific goals and wider financial planning requirements to help you reach your financial goals. Our Wealth Platform Client Portal will give you 24/7 online access to your financial information. The platform provides an efficient and convenient way to view and monitor your investments, plans, policies and other assets and gives you access to extensive portfolio information, all from one screen.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like to know more about the financial advice and the type of services that I can offer you and I will respond back to you at my earliest convenience.

Financial advice is about so much more than money. To me it’s about helping my clients achieve the future they want for themselves and their families. Helping you realise financial security and put your hard-earned money to work is what drives me as a Sandringham Partner.

During my time as a financial adviser, I’m proud to have helped people from all walks of life. A common misconception is that advice is reserved for the wealthy, but you don’t have to have millions in the bank to benefit. I’ve helped people from diverse backgrounds and professions reach their goals. It’s a big part of why I love what I do.

Areas of expertise

Savings & investments

Whether you’re just getting started or a seasoned investor – financial advice could help you get more from your money. I start by understanding your needs and financial ambitions – this might be working towards a particular goal, or helping loved ones down the line.

It’s important we consider things like your ability to make regular payments, any one-off investments you could make, your level of comfort regarding market volatility and risk and how long you’re looking to invest for. I can then recommend the investment products that I believe best match your aims and expectations.

Pensions & retirement planning

Have you considered what you want your retirement to look like? Most people accept that it’s generally a good idea to save into a pension. But will it give you enough to live the life you want in retirement? The earlier you lay the groundwork, the better. Effective retirement planning could mean you’re financially better off and have more time to spend on the things you love.

It’s never too late to put plans in place or discuss your options. I can look at your situation and recommend which steps to take, based on where you are in life, to help make your income last in retirement.

Protection

We can’t predict what life has in store for us, for better or worse. But we can prepare ourselves. If you become unwell and can’t work, you may not be able to pay your bills and your family could be left in financial difficulty. I can help you create a protection plan that might include income protection, life cover and critical illness cover. Knowing you’ve taken out financial protection to take care of things could mean one less worry for you and your loved ones.

Estate & inheritance planning

It might not be nice to think about, but having a plan in place for what happens to your money and other assets when you die can have a huge impact. The earlier you have these conversations and put plans in place, the longer you have to make better use of tax allowances, so more of your wealth can be enjoyed by your loved ones.

There are some financial implications to consider when passing on wealth as well as your own personal wishes for your money, and I can help you create a plan that considers both. Tax rules can change and the impact of taxation and any tax relief depends on your circumstances, including where you live.

Long-term care

Planning ahead for long-term care is important, and the likelihood of needing care increases as you age. I can help you understand the services available to you, like nursing homes or home health care.

With people living longer than ever before, I can help you understand how long-term care services could affect your assets and income.
