About Alex Newell

My career started out in law and I made the change to financial services 8 years ago. Meeting my clients and being truly involved in their lives has been the most rewarding part of my career change. As a Fellow of the PFS (Personal Finance Society) I hold the highest qualification there is in financial advice, and I’m comfortable advising on all areas, whether that’s buying a home, getting a mortgage and protection, or estate planning and trust issues.

Financial advice is about so much more than money. To me it’s about helping my clients achieve the future they want for themselves and their families. Helping you realise financial security and put your hard-earned money to work is what drives me as a Sandringham Partner.

Everyone’s goals are unique. What you hope to accomplish is likely to be different from the next person – there’s no one-size-fits all. That’s why I’ll spend time getting to know you; your hopes, needs, wants, concerns, and anything else that’s on your mind. The value of your investment can go down as well as up so you might not get back the amount you put in.

My approach to creating your financial plan

Only when we’re on the same page and have a mutual understanding, will I recommend the best actions to take. My approach is simple: no jargon, no judgement – just clear, honest advice, tailored to you. Together, we’ll create a bespoke plan which has your best interests at heart, giving you peace of mind that you’ve taken the first step towards a brighter future.

I believe in making advice simple

A big part of my job is illustrating how actions you take now could impact your life many years from now. Through modelling tools I can help you visualise best and worst case scenarios. That way, we can work together to plan for different outcomes – enabling you take the most appropriate steps, at the right time. This can be difficult to do yourself, so having expert by your side can pay off.

Let’s chat

I’m a big believer that investing in advice is investing in you. It’s benefits often go beyond the financial, improving your wellbeing too. I’d love to hear more about you and what you’re looking to achieve, so don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Areas of expertise

Savings & investments

Whether you’re just getting started or a seasoned investor – financial advice could help you get more from your money. I start by understanding your needs and financial ambitions – this might be working towards a particular goal, or helping loved ones down the line.

It’s important we consider things like your ability to make regular payments, any one-off investments you could make, your level of comfort regarding market volatility and risk and how long you’re looking to invest for. I can then recommend the investment products that I believe best match your aims and expectations.

Pensions & retirement planning

Have you considered what you want your retirement to look like? Most people accept that it’s generally a good idea to save into a pension. But will it give you enough to live the life you want in retirement? The earlier you lay the groundwork, the better. Effective retirement planning could mean you’re financially better off and have more time to spend on the things you love.

It’s never too late to put plans in place or discuss your options. I can look at your situation and recommend which steps to take, based on where you are in life, to help make your income last in retirement.

Protection

We can’t predict what life has in store for us, for better or worse. But we can prepare ourselves. If you become unwell and can’t work, you may not be able to pay your bills and your family could be left in financial difficulty. I can help you create a protection plan that might include income protection, life cover and critical illness cover. Knowing you’ve taken out financial protection to take care of things could mean one less worry for you and your loved ones.

Estate & inheritance planning

It might not be nice to think about, but having a plan in place for what happens to your money and other assets when you die can have a huge impact. The earlier you have these conversations and put plans in place, the longer you have to make better use of tax allowances, so more of your wealth can be enjoyed by your loved ones.

There are some financial implications to consider when passing on wealth as well as your own personal wishes for your money, and I can help you create a plan that considers both. Tax rules can change and the impact of taxation and any tax relief depends on your circumstances, including where you live.
